SINTYRON Customized High Strength Yttria-stabilized zirconia ceramic tube
Zirconia ceramic tubes (ZrO₂ ceramic tubes) are high-performance ceramic products, mainly composed of zirconia. They possess excellent characteristics such as high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, high strength and wear resistance.
Mechanical Properties: Compressive strength reaches 1200-1400 MPa, fracture toughness is four times that of alumina ceramics, wear resistance is excellent, and the surface finish is near-mirror-like.
Thermal Properties: High-temperature resistance (can operate stably above 1600°C), with a thermal expansion coefficient close to that of metal (9.4×10⁻⁶/°C at 25-1500°C), preventing deformation caused by thermal expansion and contraction.
Electrical Properties: Low thermal conductivity (2.09 W/(m·K) at 1000°C), suitable for use as a solid electrolyte membrane in high-temperature fuel cells.
Chemical Stability: Resistant to corrosion from strong acids, alkalis, and organic solvents, extending service life in chemical pipelines by more than three times.
Application fields
1.Industrial High-Temperature Furnaces and Sensors:
Thermocouple Protection Tubes: This is one of the most classic applications. It protects the internal temperature sensing element (thermocouple wire), enabling long-term stable operation in harsh environments such as high temperatures, corrosive atmospheres (such as reducing atmospheres), and molten metal.
Furnace Tubes: Serves as the hearth of small high-temperature experimental furnaces, providing a clean, high-temperature environment.
2.Mechanical and Wear-Resistant Components:
Wear-Resistant Liners and Guide Sleeves: Used as inner linings in equipment conveying powders, granules, or fibers, they significantly extend equipment life.
Bearings and Bushings: Ceramic bearings offer advantages over metal bearings, particularly in lubricated, high-temperature, or corrosive environments.
3.Medical: Primarily used in dentistry as furnace tubes for dental sintering furnaces, zirconia furnace tubes provide an extremely stable and clean high-temperature environment, ensuring the sintering quality of dental restorations (such as zirconia crowns and bridges) without causing contamination.
4.Energy, Electronics, and Aerospace:
A key component of solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs).
Insulating sleeves and structural components in certain special applications.

Advantages and Limitations
Advantages:
Excellent overall mechanical properties (strength, toughness, and hardness).
Excellent chemical and high-temperature resistance.
Good thermal and electrical insulation.
Good biocompatibility.
Limitations:
Higher cost: Both the raw material and sintering process are more expensive than common ceramics like alumina.
Brittleness: Despite its high toughness among ceramics, it is still inherently brittle compared to metals and must be protected from severe impact and stress concentration.
Weight: High density (approximately 6 g/cm³), heavier than both alumina and silicon carbide.
