SINTYRON High Precision CNC Machining Alumina Ceramic part for Semiconductor

Product description:

Alumina ceramic is an advanced industrial material, primarily composed of aluminum oxide (Al₂O₃)
known for its exceptional combination of mechanical, thermal, and electrical properties. These parts are
engineered ceramics, manufactured from fine alumina powders through processes like pressing, extrusion,
or injection molding, followed by high-temperature sintering.

Material Introduction:

Key Characteristics:

Extreme Hardness & Wear Resistance: Alumina is exceptionally hard (Mohs hardness ~9, second only to diamond and silicon carbide), making it

highly resistant to abrasion, erosion, and mechanical wear. It is ideal for liners, cutting tools, and wear plates.

High Thermal Stability: It maintains its strength and shape at very high temperatures (up to ~1700°C for short-term use). It has excellent thermal

shock resistance and low thermal expansion, suitable for furnace components and high-temperature insulators.

Superior Electrical Insulation: Alumina exhibits very high electrical resistivity and excellent dielectric strength, even at elevated temperatures.

This makes it the material of choice for substrates, insulators, and housings in electronic and electrical applications.

Excellent Chemical Inertness: It is highly resistant to corrosion from strong acids, alkalis, and molten metals, ensuring long-term performance

in harsh chemical environments and biological settings (biocompatible).

Good Mechanical Strength: It possesses high compressive strength, though it is a brittle material with lower fracture toughness compared to

metals. Modern grades can be engineered for improved toughness.

Smooth, Non-porous Surface: The sintered surface is very smooth, dense, and impermeable to gases and liquids, which prevents contamination

 and facilitates easy cleaning.

Typical Alumina Purity Grades & Applications:

99.5% - 99.9% Alumina (High-Purity): Used in high-performance applications: semiconductor wafer processing equipment, critical high-temperature

furnace components, advanced medical implants, and precision laser components.

96% Alumina (Standard Industrial Grade): The most common and cost-effective balance of properties. Applications include: pump seals and bearings,

thread guides, electrical insulators, abrasive blast nozzles, and labware.

85% - 92% Alumina (General-Purpose): Used where extreme properties are not required, often as a cost-effective alternative for wear-resistant tiles and

lower-temperature electrical components.

Common Applications by Industry:

Electronics: IC substrates, chip carriers, spark plugs, sensor housings.

Industrial: Wear-resistant liners, grinding media, nozzles, cutting tool inserts, seals.

Medical: Dental implants, orthopedic prostheses, surgical instrument components.

Automotive & Aerospace: Sensor components, insulating housings, wear parts.

Chemical: Lab crucibles, tubes, components for pumps handling corrosive fluids.

Advantages & Limitations:

Advantages: Long service life, minimal maintenance, operates in extreme environments, electrically insulating, chemically inert, biocompatible.

Limitations: Brittle (susceptible to chipping or fracture under sharp impact or tensile stress), difficult to machine post-sintering (often requiring diamond grinding),

and generally more expensive than polymers or standard metals.
